The art of parking

Sensors, radars, front and rear cameras and all the technology makes available: superfluous tools for the "garagista" that matured a natural sensitivity and a Accurate precision in performing millimeter parkings that so much arouse wonder and legitimate admiration in people who assist our manoeuvres.

Grown (now and unfortunately) when the servoster it was an accessory that only owned some blasoned cars, when he rearview mirrors were not present (although only one and manual adjustment from the outside), we developed over the years (ten years) a sensitivity and an accuracy in the parking manoeuvres that arouses astonishment and enthusiasm in the common car.
"Created in the garage" under Armando's careful and expert guide, over the years we have parked vehicles of all kinds and all kinds.
Everything that has been published in the lists "Quattroruote" during these two centuries it was parked at the Garage Ponte Vecchio.
Rolls Royce, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, the Bianchina di Fantozzi, all that moved on 4 wheels we parked it.
Each car has been treated with respect, love and competence: when you make a parking maneuver is not important what you are driving, only counts how you do it.
On these occasions the real guarantor integrates completely with the car that is parking:
distractions are not allowed, (and with all due respect), we are like a surgeon who is performing an intervention, we are like an astronaut who is doing a delicate manoeuvre: no errors are allowed. And we don't.
............ As a teenager, I spent most of the summer in the garage. In those days (70s) we also had a very efficient workshop that allowed us to repair all vehicles. I spent a lot of time in the workshop, alternating my time between keys, screwdrivers and the first rudiments of the art of parking.
During the day I was doing the "workboy" or I was the "first assistant" of our mechanic Luciano.
There was no car he couldn't fix.
Genius, stubbornness, whatever he did seemed easy, so much was mastery in every gesture. I often wondered why he didn't work at Racing Department of Ferrari.
My job was to "make him light" with the workshop lamp.
The "nocchini" that I punctually received from Luciano wanted to remind me that the light "served" to him: it was he who had to see and not me. Other snipers came when I didn't do what he said to me or when I was wrong, - Maremma impenetred, I'm taking your brain off the hooks! ! !
Snipers hurt their heads: I have always tried to avoid them, but still today they are really grateful for all the times that he gave me one..... and I did not pull them with violence.... they were "educational tools" ....
... In the late afternoon, I was preparing the customers' cars that went away.
Under thecareful supervision of Armando, still fourteen years old, I learned the first rudiments ofart of parking. First sitting at his side while he carried out the maneuvers, trying to carp every finesse, then while driving with him next door, later alone, invested as by magic of a privilege, an honor (and a responsibility) to which I would never fail. And then, more and more "hardened", more precise, the decimeters that were reduced to centimeters ...... the words of Armando are still ringing in my ears: If you have any doubts, if you're not sure, stop the car, go down and look what you're doing.. How many times I turned off the engine and went down to check, how many times I tried and tried the usual manoeuvre until it became automatic and perfect....
This is what I and my brother Alessio learned and what I sent to my son Stefano and what will teach Alessio to his three sons Gabriele, Francesco and Giulio.

...... Once the sample of F 1 Renè Arnoux (ex Renault driver, Ferrari and Ligier), resting in the garage with his car and assisting the parking maneuvers, he complimented us saying that "He would not have been able to do it with that precision and speed" ....
...... I told him that I wouldn't be able to hire a duel on the 300 KM/H thread like what he did in 1979 with Gilles Villeneuve and that still today is one of the most beautiful pages of the automobile ever.

.... "It doesn't matter if you face a overtaking in the curve at crazy speed, or if you park a car in an almost impossible space, what is really important is to do it to the maximum of possibilities and capacity." - "We", he told me about us talking, "We're top class drivers, and everyone in his field is a champion..... and not even Gilles can park so ... with a smile then added: .... and if there was another round I would have put it behind.". He said all this naturally, he a sample killed by the crowd and known all over the world, he considered me a "connect" worthy of respect and admiration.
Thank you Renè, I have always taken into account your message every time I climbed on a vehicle; we are top class drivers (with all the obvious), we do things that others cannot do, because we are (also) fortunately talented .... even if I would have preferred to run in single-seater as you had the honor of doing you.
